Phillies aquire Houston's Roy Oswalt for J.A. Happ and a minor league prospect.
Yeah, there was no way we were going to the show again with Blanton as
the #3 man...
epic pitching staff for post-season... Halladay, Hamels, Oswalt...
EPIC

RE: Roy Oswalt
man, i been following the phils closely this year, though i dont get to see any games.
3.5 back from atlanta currently...what is the deal with wildcards these days? first place in each division gets a slot, and what 2-3 wildcards?
phils seem to have been struggling, but at least they've pulled away from the mets at least for the time being.
RE: Roy Oswalt
i dunno what was going on with their bats, but they fired the hitting
coacfh and they've not won 7 in a row, many with big run totals.
suddenly everyone is hitting. there's been a ton of injuries this
year, which hasn't helped much. they've only had their starting day
roster on the field 8 times in 100 games so far. its been rough.
you got one wild card. three divisions in each league. each division
winner goes to first round of playoffs + which ever team that
finnished second with the highest number of wins. they phillies have
been playing unusually bad and the braves have been playing a bit
above their ability. it should all balance out, especially with this
1-2-3 pitching rotation.
howard has been quietly havine a good season... hitting .300 and is
like 4th in home runs, and he only gets better later in the season.
and hopefully, both utley and rollins will be back on the field by
sept 1.
they should really win the division. i think the worst of the season
slump is over.

I agree... ESPNB today said with this trade they see the Phils going to the "Big Show" & winning it all!

RE: Roy Oswalt
wow. its been a tough season to watch, this is definitely exciting.
braves lost today so another phillies win tonight brings them to 2.5
games back.
oswalt starts tomorrow against the nationals.

btw Eddie did you see Dominic Brown's debut the other night ? Hit a
double in his first at bat and wound up with a couple RBIs and runs
scored by the end of the night, pretty good game. His only mistake was
going for a dive on a ball he should have let bounce in front of him and
fielded, not a big deal in a 7-0 game but a habit I'm sure the coaching
staff doesn't want to see.
Getting Oswalt is pretty awesome, I read about it in the trade rumors
but didn't think it would really happen, although everyone knows Happ's
been on the block as currency for a deal. Especially since Kendrick has
really stepped up this season and now that Jamie may be down for the
count, Kyle will probably keep the number 5 starter spot for the rest of
the season. Oswalt was apparently so desperate to wash the stink of the
Astros off him that he waived 16 million dollars of his contract just to
leave, lol. He wanted OUT. The other HUGE trade rumors have been about
Werth, since it's well known there is probably no way for us to keep him
after this season, he will definitely be one of the biggest free agents
available next year. Shame because it would be great if he could stay,
maybe they'll pull off some magic, but otherwise they will most likely
bring Brown back up and make him the starting right fielder.
And Corey, the Mariners, what the hell is going on over there !?!?
Thought the Lee/Hernandez one-two punch would make for a good season and
I was kind of pulling for them to have a breakout after last year, but
once they traded Lee it seems like that was the white flag.

RE: Roy Oswalt
mariners blow! no other explanation. they just straight up suck ass! being in a mariners fan zone, its really sad just how bad they are, and how much no one is ever surprised. that's how it is when you blow i guess...
phils in 11!!!!
nice
